The historical drama series ‘Domina’ is an excellent contribution to the field. Simon Burke’s show debuted in May of 2021 in Italy and the UK. The series premiered in the United States in June 2021 after receiving rave reviews everywhere. The story of Livia Drusilla and her rise to power in ancient Rome is at the center of this historical play. Augustus Caesar’s wife Livia had a significant influence on the political climate of her day.
The program has received high marks for its innovative production design, brilliant acting, and solid scripting. The critically acclaimed television series “Game of Thrones” has been likened to the political thriller. It sheds insight into the 20th century B.C., a period seldom shown in mainstream media. One can’t help but be captivated by such a wonderful production. Whether or whether this means there will be a second season remains to be seen. So, here is everything we’ve learned so far!
Domina Season 2 Renewal Status
On June 6, 2021, the first season of the historical drama was made available to viewers in the United States. We also have some exciting news for the faithful. The second season of Domina has been picked up by the network. Simon Burke’s potent Roman family tale will be back for a second season on EPIX with an ensemble cast and an even more fascinating narrative, said executive producer Lucy Bedford upon hearing of the show’s renewal.
She said, “Season two will thrust us back into the intrigue and depravity of ancient Rome, as the intrepid Livia Drusilla battles to keep her place in a society where the pursuit of power is sought at any cost. Livia’s hands will become filthy this time, and the cost will be more than she can bear. The second season of Domina will reportedly begin filming in Rome sometime in 2023. As a result, eager followers have a long wait ahead of them until they can see the sequel.

Domina Season 2 Expected Plot
At the conclusion of the first season, Livia and Gaius were seen as the leaders of Rome. There is now no animosity or lingering resentment between them due to the assassination of Marcellus Gaius’ nephew. Therefore, Octavia and Scribonia are not anxious about seeing each other again. In their pursuit of dominance, the pair has alienated a number of people.
Domina Season 2 will pick up just where Season 1 left off, with the aftermath of the season-long war for dominance. What happens to Livia and Gaius after the first season will be seen in the second. They’ve become rather powerful in the first season. However, they were not invincible and did make some enemies.
Records indicate that following Augustus’ death in 14 AD, his son Tiberius, who was married to Livia, became Emperor. We also know that Livia had a hand in the political upheaval that followed the banishment of Gauis’ daughter Julia. As a consequence, these events from the past might be explored in Domina Season 2.
Domina Season 2 Release Date
Domina will return for a second season since the producers have opted to keep the program going. Domina’s first season was made available in the United Kingdom on Epix, an American premium cable and satellite TV network. The program has been renewed for a second season. Like the previous season, the second will consist of eight episodes. Domina Season 2 might premiere in the middle of 2023 or at the year’s conclusion.
On May 14, 2021, Sky Atlantic (Italy) and Sky Atlantic (UK) broadcast all the episodes from the first season. On June 6, 2021, it premiered on Epix.
Is the show based on a true story?
The events depicted in ‘Domina’ are based on real events. Simon Burke created and wrote the show to honor one of history’s most powerful women. The author of the series made no secret of Livia Drusilla’s importance to ancient Roman and global history. He considered the Empress to be a “game changer” for subsequent generations of powerful women. The writers wanted to make a drama that was grounded in reality. In order to correctly portray the time period, the designer did thorough research.
Several of the show’s characters, including Livia’s chained companion Antigone and the brothel owner Balbina, are completely fictional, as revealed by Burke. These parts were written specifically to heighten the story’s drama. Three of the series’ main characters—Marcus Livius Drusus Claudianus, Gaius Julius Caesar, and Tiberius Claudius Nero—are drawn from history. Roman culture is often described as a hedonistic and self-indulgent paradise, somewhat unlike contemporary society.
