Perdue Foods, one of the prominent American food producers is halting about 30,000 pounds of its chicken products from the market.
The company made the move out of fear of contamination of the chicken products. Well, the U.S Department of Agriculture announced the recall through its Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) arm.
According to the board, the chicken products may have been spoiled by pieces of bones and other things that are not a regular part of the food brand.
FSIS took the action after receiving a series of complaints by the product’s consumers. The numerous complaints FSIS showed that something was obviously wrong with the products.
Although FSIS did not disqualify all the products from the leading food producer, however, certain stocks such as the Chef Quick and Simply Smart Organics were recalled. This includes refrigerated strips, chicken nuggets, and tenders.
According to the board, the chicken products may have been spoiled by pieces of bones and other things that are not a regular part of the food brand.Another possibility of the threat this holds to households consuming their products is cross-contamination. This can happen with contaminated kitchen utensils such as meat slicers. Correctly cleaning meat slicers is important to prevent cross-contamination.
To assist consumers nationwide to identify the recalled products, FSIS says that such products have “EST. P-369” establishment number. The number can be located within the USDA mark of inspection.
Although there has not been any reported case of health incidents arising from consuming the product, the regulatory body is not leaving anything to chances.
It also believes that some consumers still have these products stored in their freezers. Thus, it is urging customers who already have chicken products at home not to eat them.
This is to prevent potential health challenges that may arise from consuming such contaminated products.
