Time After Time Storyline
In “Time After Time,” the action kicks off in the year 1893. H. G. Wells has invited his friends and colleagues to a party, where he will be describing his time machine invention. Obviously, nobody believes him, so the party continues with more small talk and jokes. In the meantime, London police are searching for Jack the Ripper, one of the most notorious serial killers in history. After months of investigation, they’ve narrowed it down to one man: John Stevenson, and they’ve tracked him down to Wells’ party. The police show up at the party to arrest Stevenson, but he manages to get away thanks to a little something he’s heard about. It appears out he always knew Wells’ invention was brilliant. The key, though, is something he fails to take with him. The machine takes him to the year 2017, but he is returned to 1893. Wells analyzes the information in the Ripper’s log to figure out where the killer has gone.
Both of them feel out of place in the modern world, but Jack ends up being the more resourceful of the two. With his newfound independence comes the false belief that he can keep killing without consequence. Meanwhile, in the year 2017, Wells lands inside a museum with his machine. While his resemblance to Wells is noted, his own identity is not, even as he attempts to explain. He succeeds in convincing the museum’s curator to assist him in apprehending Jack.
