Even though Season 7 of “The Mentalist” ended in February 2015, it continues to be one of the most popular shows. The protagonist, Patrick Jane, is a fake psychic who lived a rather comfortable life off of his con tricks. After the horrible death of his family by Red John, Jane decides to work as a consultant with the California Bureau of Investigations (CBI).
Due to the show’s popularity and critical acclaim, many viewers may be left wondering whether there is ever going to be a Season 8 of “The Mentalist.” All your concerns will be addressed here. Continue reading.
The Mentalist Season 8 Renewal Status
CBS has not yet announced whether or not they will air the series. Baker added, “Because the character has been through such an enormous tragedy, no one can be anything but sympathetic towards him,” during their conversation with Washington.
He continued, “The character is full of self-loathing and very self-deprecating; there is a distinct lack of preservation, and he has nothing left to live for except revenge and his own way of doing justice.” After seeing these events, it’s hard to form a solid opinion regarding the next episode. For the time being, all we can do is wait for an official announcement from the production.
The Mentalist Season 8 Release Date
The show’s emotional focus on Patrick Jane and its portrayal of physicists as crime solvers captivated American viewers. However, CBS made it apparent in 2014 that Season 8 of The Mentalist would not be happening. The producers moved the show’s production from California to Texas and made other cast changes to give it a fresh new feel.
The Red John mystery was solved by the conclusion of Season 6, providing viewers with closure on the show’s central mystery. When the FBI finally steps in midway through Season 6, it shuts down the CBI for good, changing the show’s trajectory for the next one and a half seasons.
While viewers responded well to the changes, CBS ultimately decided to cancel The Mentalist in 2014. Because of what was said above, the show’s authors and producers were able to give their characters satisfying conclusions in just 13 episodes. Neither the CBS network nor the show’s cast has confirmed whether or not the show is going to be renewed for an eighth season. Therefore, the show’s chances of being revived are slim to none.
The mentalist Storyline
In The Mentalist, Simon Baker plays Patrick Jane, a “physic” and independent CBI consultant who utilizes his psychic powers to aid law enforcement in Sacramento, California. However, the story’s major focus is on Patrick Jane’s work with the CBI to find and bring to justice the man responsible for the deaths of his wife, Angela Ruskin Jane, and daughter, Charlotte Anne Jane: Red John.
The focus shifts from general cases to tracking down serial killer Red John and his imitators in seasons four through six. In the midst of season six, the FBI steps in to shut down the CBI, solving the Red John mystery once and for all, and the show takes a new direction for the remaining one and a half seasons, introducing some new faces along the way.
Bruno Heller, The Mentalist’s producer, set out to break new ground in Hollywood by creating an original show. Heller provided just what the CBS network was looking for in a show to match NCIS. Bruno Heller describes the protagonist as a mix of Sherlock Holmes and a street psychic, an investigator who helps people and a con artist who tells them lies.
