Starz is premiering a new American drama series titled Sweetbitter. The plot revolves around a young woman who, inspired by modern society, decides to become a hostess at a fancy restaurant. Fans are eagerly awaiting the third season after two successful installments that did justice to the show’s amazing plot. So, we’ll be discussing the latest renewal news for Season 3 of Sweetbitter.
The first season premiered in 2018, and despite being subpar, people quickly took a stand. Starz, however, continued production despite dwindling viewership, further proving that the show was not popular with its intended audience.
Sweetbitter Season 3 Renewal Status
The era of sweet bitterness has ended. According to Deadline, Starz has decided to end the two-season run of the half-hour drama based on Stephanie Danler’s best-selling novel.
Sweetbitter Season 3 Release Date
Season 2 of “Sweetbitter” premiered on Starz on July 14, 2019. Eight episodes were shown, and the series ended on August 18, 2019. The Live+Same Day rating for the first season averaged 164,000 viewers every episode, whereas the second season averaged only 93,000 people per episode. Starz canceled the show on December 20, 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fans were surprised by the show’s cancellation after season 2, especially given the cliffhanger ending. However, we believe that declining ratings were the primary factor in Starz’s decision. Therefore, after only two seasons on Starz, the decision has been made to cancel Sweetbitter for a third.

Sweetbitter Season 2 Ending Explained
Tess (Ella Purnell) makes a stunning request to Howard (Paul Sparks) at the end of season 2 of Sweetbitter: she wants Simone (Caitlin FitzGerald) dismissed. The 22-year-old Ohio native Tess moves to New York City in the summer of 2006 to work as a back server at a high-end restaurant. The series, which airs on Starz, is based on the best-selling novel by Stephanie Danler.
Season 2 of Sweetbitter features an extended run of eight episodes, contrasting with the first season’s focus on Tess as a deer-in-the-headlights as she adjusts to life in New York City and fights for her place at the restaurant. Tess’s obsession with the sophisticated Simone persisted, but she also developed an uncontrollable crush on Jake (Tom Sturridge), a gloomy bartender who has a mysterious history with Simone. Season 2 finds Tess settling in nicely to her roles as a back waiter and a New York City resident; she has affairs with Sasha (Daniyar), Arielle (Eden Epstein), Heather (Jasmine Mathews), and Will (Evan Jonigkeit) still obviously attracted to her. Despite Tess’s freedom of choice and her ever-evolving tastes, she finds herself perpetually entangled in Jake and Simone’s relationship.
Sweetbitter Season 3 Plotline
Season 2 of Sweetbitter left viewers hanging when Tess begged Howard to fire Simone. The third season of Sweetbitter will pick up precisely where the second left off, with Howard’s choice and the consequences of Tess’s betrayal of Simone. While the first season of Sweetbitter followed the novel closely and focused on Tess’ coming of age in New York City, the second season expanded upon this to include the lives of the other characters. They learned more about Will’s battle to find a purpose and respect, especially after Howard promoted him to the manager, about Arielle’s miserable life at home and why she works at the restaurant, and about Sasha’s life in Russia and why he can’t go there.
Fans are dying to know what occurs next between Tess, Jake, and Simone, but the story of all of the characters in Sweetbitter begs to be continued in season 3.
