The American romantic comedy-drama series Dash and Lily was developed by Joe Tracz and is based on the young adult books by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn titled Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares. David Levithan, born in the United States on September 7th, 1972, is a writer and editor known primarily for his works of young adult literature, such as Knopf Books for Young Readers’ 2003 release, Boy Meets Boy.
He is well known for his novel Boy Meets Boy, which features the gay male protagonist’s Paul and Noah. American author Rachel Cohn was born on December 14, 1968. Gingerbread, her debut novel, came out in 2002. On November 10, 2020, Netflix released the first of eight episodes of a new series called Dash & Lily. Critics are divided on this one, yet the program still managed to score a 7.8 on IMDb and a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Dash & Lily Season 2 Renewal Status
Unfortunately, Netflix will no longer be airing ‘Dash and Lily’ after the upcoming 2020 season. The first season of the show debuted in 2020 in November, just in time for the holidays. At first, there was high anticipation among viewers for a 2019 Christmas season return. The writers are on board as well, writing up potential plot points for the next installments of Dash and Lily’s love tale. Joe Tracz, the show’s creator and showrunner, recently told Decider that she is constantly thinking about season 2 and that she adores these characters.
Both critics and spectators have praised the show. The audience score for Dash and Lily was 86%, while the reviewer score was a staggering 100%. There is overwhelming evidence to support the conclusion that a second season will be produced. However, months have passed with no updates. In October of 2021, Deadline finally broke the quiet with some very sad news. ‘Dash and Lily’ has been canceled by Netflix after only one season. Netflix did not comment on the cancellation’s underlying cause.
Dash & Lily Storyline
Based on the novel by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn, Dash & Lily: The Novel of Dares, the romantic comedy Dash & Lily on Netflix is a light and captivating binge-watch that is sure to put you in a good mood.
The eight-part series is set in New York City over the Christmas season, arguably the most magical time of the year in the city, and follows the unconventional courtship of angsty teen Dash (Austin Abrams), who despises Christmas, and Lily (Midori Francis), who is shy but earnest and more than a little enchanted with the holiday and all its trappings. The two start exchanging notes in a journal that was purchased from the famous Strand bookstore in New York City. Despite having never met in person, the two start to develop romantic feelings for one another as they divulge more information about themselves and dare one another to venture outside of their own comfort zones.

Dash & Lily Season 2 Expected Plot
The main characters in the first season of ‘Dash & Lily’ meet (not quite literally at first) and get to know each other through a series of dares and encounters recorded in a notebook that they send back and forth between each other. At the end of the first season, Dash and Lily start dating when they finally admit their feelings to each other on New Year’s Eve.
Each new season would take place in the run-up to Christmas if the creators choose to stick to the tale as told in the books. In the second novel, “The Twelve Days of Dash & Lily,” Dash and Lily’s pals band together to convert the city of Manhattan into a magnificent Christmas paradise for Lily, whose normal Christmas joy has been dampened by her grandfather’s illness. It’s likely that the show’s second season will continue in the same (or a similar) vein as the first.
Dash and Lily Season 2 Release Date
After much anticipation, Netflix has finally announced that Dash and Lily Season 2 will not be produced. This change was revealed by Netflix on October 20, 2021. Since Netflix did not inform the audience until nearly a year after the show’s premiere, and renewals normally come a few months following a series debut, the streaming service’s revelation made sense.
