What Is The ABC Diet
this diet was popularized by the American Dr. Robert O. Young, author of “The pH Miracle” and “Younger You.” The foods are divided into alkalizing and acidifying foods. As a result of eating only alkalizing foods, the body’s pH gradually returns to normal (i.e., closer to 7). The idea is that an overly acidic environment in the body can cause many common diseases such as cancer, heart disease, or flu because cancer cells cannot survive in an alkaline environment but thrive in acidic environments.
The principles:
Eat vegetables, fruits, and whole grains Avoid pasta, pieces of bread made with yeast, white rice, soda drinks made with sugar Avoid red meats Avoid milk products Eat only grass-fed beef, free-range chicken and eggs Avoid all foods with preservatives or colorings Avoid fatty meats (e.g., pork)
The benefits of the ABC diet:
it is a simple diet that anyone can follow. It has no complex recipes or requirements. You can use any foods as long as they are alkaline and avoid acidic ones. The body will gradually maintain its alkalinity and heal itself because many diseases occur due to a lack of minerals and vitamins; this kind of balanced diet should provide all the nutrients you need to remain healthy.
The disadvantages of this diet:
there is no scientific evidence that supports these claims; just because something contains an acid does not mean that the body cannot use it because it has acid. It could still be beneficial (such as apple cider vinegar which contains acetic acid). Some foods are being demonized when they are healthy for you to have a balanced diet. You should avoid all foods, not just acidic ones.
My opinion:
I think eating alkaline food is good for health, but I do not believe that every food needs to be eaten in either an alkaline or acidic state. I agree with what Dr. Robert O Young says, the best source of food is organic fruits and vegetables, but there are many benefits to keeping animal fats in your diet. Some people tried using only green powder, while others consumed only alkaline food items while avoiding acidic food items.
According to this clinical trial, it is said that the alkaline diet is not practical for weight loss or blood pressure control in people with hypertension. Researchers also noted that some of the side effects were due to nutritional deficiencies. Also, there are no benefits on incontinence and kidney stones with this diet. It can even result in severe complications if followed incorrectly over a long time because the risk of developing osteoporosis increases due to a lack of essential minerals.
You should still avoid fatty meats, though, as saturated fats might be harmful to your health unless you regularly practice high-intensity exercises at least 3-4 times per week! I am very skeptical about these diets simply because it encourages their followers to avoid nutrient-dense foods, which have been a part of the human diet for centuries.
The Caveman Diet:
this is also known as The Paleolithic or Stone Age diet and is based on the presumed ancient diet of wild plants and animals that our ancestors consumed during the Paleolithic era, a period of about 2.5 million years that ended around 10,000 years ago with the introduction of agriculture.
The idea behind this kind of diet is to avoid processed foods, including sugars, refined carbohydrates (slices of bread/pasta), dairy products, certain vegetable oils, etc. These diets are usually high in protein (meat) with moderate amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables and exclude grains, legumes (beans), processed additives like chemicals, preservatives, colorings, flavorings, etc.
