The supernatural web series “The Innocents” was created in the United Kingdom and is currently streaming on Netflix. The show depicts two adolescents who stumble onto a realm of mysterious powers and beings; it was created by Hania Elkington and Simon Duric and directed by Farren Blackburn and Jamie Donoughue.
Netflix ordered the first season of the new show “The Innocents” in August of 2017, and production on the show began in England and continued in Norway. One year after Netflix’s first order, on August 24, 2018, the first eight episodes of ‘The Innocents’ Season 1 debuted. Both television critics and audiences responded well, and since then, fans of the show have been demanding more episodes. What follows is everything we have learned about Season 2 at this point.
The Innocent Season 2 Renewal Status
The fate of The Innocents’ potential second season has not yet been determined. Sorcha Groundsell, who plays teenage shapeshifter, June McDaniel, was recently interviewed by Vogue, and her comments hint that Netflix has ambitious intentions for the show. According to the post, Netflix has ordered six more episodes of Groundswell, indicating that the company believes the show will be successful.
Even though this is probably due to the show’s popularity, it appears like solid evidence that season two is on the way. Netflix does not disclose viewership numbers, however, the show has received “generally favorable reviews” according to review aggregator Metacritic, which has given it a score of 70 out of 100.
The Innocent Season 2 Release Date
On April 30th, 2021, this will be one of the most-watched Spanish Netflix premieres. Spanish locations were used for this picture. The film was adapted from Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name, which came out in 2005. If we polled moviegoers on the critical reception of thrillers, the results would stand out. Directors of thrillers produce feelings of worry, anger, and uncertainty in their characters by building up a great deal of tension and depicting a wide variety of actions. After watching the first season, fans are eager to see how the second unfolds.
Season 2 of The Innocents on Netflix seems less likely as a result. It’s possible, but it’s not looking particularly likely at the moment. The fact that the pandemic is ongoing and Netflix renews its shows at least once every two years also played a role. If this is to happen, then it will likely occur in the first half of 2024. There has been no confirmed news regarding the release of Season 2 of The Innocent as of yet.
The Innocents Storyline
Picture a sci-fi Romeo and Juliet story intercut with a horror film. That sums up ‘The Innocents’ nicely, actually. This exciting story follows June and Harry, two teens who fall madly in love and resolve to run away from home in order to be together, despite the fact that they both have strict families. June’s discovery that she is a shapeshifter with the capacity to turn into a large, bearded Norwegian man throws a wrench into their plans to be together, which are already complicated by supernatural factors and difficulties. Even though at first glance this appears like a cool talent, June soon learns that she has no say over her appearance or how often she transforms.
June is learning to control her abilities as a shapeshifter from a strange professor who reveals that June isn’t the only one with such an ability. This odd professor also assures June that she will be reunited with her birth mother, who he claims abandoned her as a child many years ago. June and Harry’s relationship is tested to its breaking point on this trip. The young couple, nearing the end of their magical adventure, must decide whether to continue pursuing their innocent fantasy or embrace their new lives and identities.

The Innocent Season 2 Expected Plot
A potential jail assassin was shown clemency by Mateo at the end of the first season of The Innocent, but Mateo ultimately decided to hurl him over a railing. Jaime’s actions are driven by his opinion that Mateo is a born killer, and the last image of the Netflix show seems to suggest that he’s right. The narrative also repeatedly questions whether Casas’ character is inherently violent or merely unlucky. As was previously indicated, Netflix may choose to replace the whole cast of The Innocent for season 2, resulting in an altogether new tale, or they may choose to bring back Jiménez as Detective Lorena Ortiz to investigate a fresh murder.
The Innocent Season 2 Trailer
Netflix has not yet announced a second season despite the show’s popularity after the first. No official teaser for Season 2 has been released as of yet.
The Innocent Season 1 Review
This miniseries is gritty, well-written, and highly engrossing, and it keeps you wondering right up until the very end. There are some wonderful twists here as well, and when everything comes together as it should, the ending is really fulfilling. This tale unfolds in the very heart of Spain. Mat tragically loses his life after killing a boy named Dani in a bar fight. Four years later, Mat is released from prison and must start rebuilding his life from scratch. And I have to say, he does a decent job at it.
The eight episodes here do a great job of keeping you wondering until the very end thanks to the many twists and turns along the route. The plot centers on Mat initially, but towards the end, he’s really just a supporting character in a story that’s all about Olivia and Lorena. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t watch the entire series, but it is something to think about.
The Innocent is, without a doubt, a thrilling and exciting ride. You should expect several inconsistencies in the story and certain instances that will make you scratch your head. This is one of the best of the Harlan Coben adaptations, and it stands alongside the best. This crime drama mystery is riveting and well worth your time.
