‘Doctor Dream’ (Mike Flanagan, 2019)
Mike Flanagan opens his excellent Doctor Dream with another shot from the sky, but this time it is fixed, just with a linear and vertical approach that ends in a collateral victim of that supernatural year 1980. In that ceremonious stillness, Flanagan seems to tell us no is going to depart from King's (splendid) book, which is going to be as faithful as the author of Barry Lyndon (another film about the vicissitudes of time, fate and guilt) was not in The Shining, to the writer's horror from Maine. And it is.
