In addition to many new and extended characters, the second season of The Wheel of Time had a major casting change: Barney Harris was no longer Mat.
The reasons for this have been the subject of much conjecture, with no official word on the matter. You may recall Dónal Finn from The Witcher or How to Build a Girl; he replaced Harris.
Several other characters became regulars, such as Guy Roberts’ Uno Nomesta, the one-eyed soldier from the previous series finale. As the soldier-turned-prophet Masema Dagar, Arnas Fedaravicius (The Last Kingdom) was also cast in Wheel of Time.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 Plot
The streaming service finally gave viewers a look at the highly anticipated second season of the popular program with the release of the full-length trailer. The teaser suggests that the second season will stick to the same formula. New characters will be introduced, and old ones will have new roles to play.
Season 1’s cliffhanger suggests that the search for the Horn of Valere will take center stage in season 2, but viewers can also expect more insight into Rand’s solitary quest as the Dragon Reborn. The reappearance of Mat, the theft of the Horn of Valere, and Emond’s Field Five are all set to happen in Season 2. The narrative will take unexpected turns, as the program isn’t an exact recreation of the novel.

The new teaser for Season 2 of The Wheel of Time will reacquaint viewers with their beloved characters in July 2023. A foreboding cover of “Control” by Halsey plays in the background as the teaser cuts quickly among images of Moiraine preparing her people for the impending “last battle” in which they will face the Dark One.
If these teaser films are any indication, the second season will have more action and magical elements, building to a season that is both visually and thematically intense. Episode 1 of Season 2 will supposedly be an adaptation of the prologue from the novel The Great Hunt, and Prime Video has given a sneak preview of the opening few moments.
