Legacies is a fantasy drama show about the 17-year-old daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall from The Originals, Hope Mikaelson. It is a spin-off of The Originals and has characters from that show and The Vampire Diaries, which came before it. Legacies Season 5 Renewal Status
Legacies, a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries, was canceled after its fourth season, and since then, a lot has been said about the story plans for Legacies season 5. The tone and focus of Legacies, the second TVD spinoff after The Originals, were very different from those of The Originals. Instead of having adults play teenagers or just be adults, Legacies had a cast that was much younger. The tone was much lighter and more silly, and the story was set up like a “monster of the week” with the Salvatore School students facing off against a variety of enemies.
Legacies’ ratings kept going down, though, and when Warner Bros. and Discovery merged, it was decided to end the show after its fourth season. Still, that just doesn’t mean that Legacies season 5 wasn’t already in the works. Julie Plec, who created the TVD universe, and several Legacies writers have said since the show was canceled that there were concrete ideas for a Legacies season 5 story arc. Legacies Season 5 Plot
Even though the season finale of the Vampire Diaries spinoff, Legacies, was a good ending, it set up a lot for a possible Legacies season 5. In the last episode of Season 4, Jed and Ben set out together, now that they were no longer “cursed.” Legacies season 5 would have probably been about them both struggling without their powers and maybe realizing that what they thought were curses were actually gifts. Legacies season 5 was also supposed to be more about Kaleb and Cleo. Season 4 gave hints that her new clairvoyant abilities as an Oracle would play a bigger role. The end of season 4 showed that she had seen something scary about her and Kaleb’s future, which hinted that their future would end in tragedy.
Landon’s new job as the Ferryman of Limbo, which is like Purgatory in The Vampire Diaries universe, had a lot of potential for Legacies season 5. His story could have been finished at the end of Legacies season 4, and if that’s where the show had left him, that would have been fine. But it would have been interesting to see how he handled his new job as the Ferryman, especially since he gave up some of his human feelings and emotions to save his friends in the world above. Legacies season 5 would have had a very different Landon, and the show would have given Aria Shahghasemi, who isn’t used enough, a lot to work with.
