         Ghibli finds its platform: HBO Max keeps all the films of the mythical animation studio

For the first time, the 21 films of Studio Ghibli, the famous Japanese animation house will be available for public broadcast in the US. UU. In an agreement with the North American distributor GKIDS, the complete catalog of 21 films, will be licensed for the first time in its entirety for an American broadcast platform.

All movies, included 'Princess Mononoke'(Mononoke-hime, 1997) and'Chihiro's journey'(Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi, 2001) will be available from the same launch of HBO Max in spring, with the exception of 'The wind rises' (Kaze tachinu, 2013), which will be launched in the fall of 2020.

Kevin Reilly, content director of HBO Max and president of TNT, TBS and truTV, said in a statement:

«Studio Ghibli films are visually stunning and completely immersive experiences. Exciting, charming and deeply humanistic, these wonderful films have captured the hearts of people around the world and we are proud to show them in an accessible way for even more fans through HBO Max »

Founded in 1985 by animation directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, Studio Ghibli He has become world famous for his original stories of fantastic worlds and epic sagas focused on endearing protagonists for which they have received six Oscar nominations in the animated feature film category, winning one in 2003 for 'Chihiro's journey'.

Koji Hoshino, current president of Studio Ghibli responded to the statement expressing:

After the launch of the service this spring, Ghibli fans will be able to enjoy their favorite (movies) and deepen the catalog, while completely new audiences will be able to discover our films for the first time »
