Carla Suárez has announced that 2020 will be his last year as a professional tennis player. Suarez, currently 55th in the world, explains that he is "beginning to have other priorities" in a sport that "requires a lot of sacrifice."
"2020 is going to be my last year as a professional tennis player. Tennis has given me more than I could imagine. I am starting to have other priorities, this is a sport that requires a lot of sacrifice. It will be an equally intense and equally demanding year. We want to finish in a professional way, "explains the 31-year-old tennis player.
Suarez announces when the end of his career will be after in September he announced that I wouldn't play anymore in 2019 due to the worsening of the ailments in his lower back.
"I have competed in many tournaments limited by lower back pain. We have worked daily to avoid this step but circumstances rule. As a precaution and not to continue putting my health at risk, we have decided that it is the optimal time to perform this treatment, "he said.
The Grancanaria tennis player reached her best position in the WTA ranking in 2016, when it became number six in the world.
